every year caldera chooses a specific artistic discipline as its creative focus. For 2008-09, words without walls concentrated on art that begins with the word–both spoken and written. the end result may be a poem, a song or a visual piece of art. professional artists from around the country will collaborate with caldera artist mentors at our partner schools to provide students with a thorough examination of the role and significance of poetry, creative writing, and spoken word performance. through their study of poetry, creative writing, and spoken word, caldera students will not only acquire skills for writing poetry and sharing their poems with an audience, but they will also develop confidence in their voices, opinions, and creative abilities.
