Hello Neighbor Project

hello neighbor
how do you see yourself? what inspires you? can you tell me a story about the neighborhood you grew up in? do you feel safe in your community?

these are some of the questions students asked their neighbors as part of the hello neighbor project. caldera students in ten communities across portland and central oregon invited their neighbors to be interviewed and photographed as a part of this state-wide public art project created by photographer julie keefe. the students were then interviewed and photographed by keefe to capture their point of view and introduce them to the community. from this work, 7 foot by 5 foot photo and word banners were created and are on display throughout their communities.
